The Houston Choral Society is a professional-quality chorus dedicated to bringing audiences great choral music to enrich the soul and advance the choral arts. Founded in 1987, this 80-member choir is composed of passionate, experienced singers who perform a breadth of music from the great masters, contemporary composers, American heritage, musical theater, and opera. In recent years, the group has presented a concert version of Gilbert & Sullivan's H.M.S. Pinafore, Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem, Johannes Brahms' Requiem in the original German. The Society also presented a commissioned piece by Dr. Adolphus Hailstork for our 20th anniversary called Set Me on a Rock. The Society has joined voices with many choirs in the past and performed at many Houston venues.
